Brandon Lemagne killed during struggle with officer in Fairfax Co.

A citizen of Newport News, Virginia, who was fatally shot by Fairfax County police on Thursday has been named. According to authorities, the guy attacked the officer and attempted to seize his pistol while the officer was trying to apprehend him for operating a stolen truck.

According to the police, Brandon Lemagne, 38, was operating a U-Haul truck that had been stolen on May 3 in Richmond in the Alexandria area of the county.

According to a statement from the police released on Friday, at 4:06 on Thursday, “Lemagne passed a license plate reader which alerted officers” to the truck. An officer exited his police SUV and approached Lemagne when Lemagne pulled over and exited the U-Haul at a gas station parking lot in the 6300 block of Richmond Highway.

The two exchanged a few words before proceeding to the officer’s car, according to the statement.

Beyond the statement they released, Fairfax police officials on Friday did not reply to calls for comment. Lemagne had no living relatives that could be reached for comment.

On the spot, Lemagne was determined to be dead. The assaulted police officer received hospital treatment before being released. The cops who fired the bullets, according to the statement, have been placed on restricted duty while the event is being investigated.
