Early in her career, as a member of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Shields visited Washington D.C. to speak to Texas House and Senate Members about the future of cardiovascular disease.
As a spokesperson for the American Heart Association, she has given many talks to the community and organizations about heart attack awareness and heart disease prevention.
