Biography:

Idina Menzel was born on May 30, 1971 in Queens, New York. She attended New York University where she completed a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Drama.

She shot to fame for her performance as Maureen Johnson in the Broadway musical Rent, a role she reprised in the film adaptation released in 2005. She also won the Tony Award for her role as Elphaba in the Broadway show Wicked.

She also became known among television viewers for her role as Shelby Corcoran in the musical drama Glee, playing the mother of Lea Michele’s character.
