In 1982, he helped his team to snag a victory in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship. He has also managed the Westmeath senior team between 1997 and 2000.
Having retired from the sport in 1992, he currently works as a post office worker.
So how then did he make a switch from Gaelic football to caddying?
Well, the short answer is that he didn’t. His son Shane already has a caddy named Brian ‘Bo’ Martin, who he began working with in September 2018.
However, at the 2015 Masters Par-3 Contest, he served as his son’s caddy, marking a lovely father-son moment.
