Bruce Arians, the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, has unexpectedly opted to step down, with defensive coordinator Todd Bowles being promoted to the position beginning next season.
Just over a year after leading the Buccaneers to Super Bowl victory at home, Arians, 69, announced his retirement to take a front-office position as a senior football consultant.
Arians was the Buccaneers’ head coach for three years after retiring from the sport in 2017 after five years in the same position with the Arizona Cardinals.
Bruce Arians is married to Christine, his high school sweetheart, and the couple has two children, Jake and Kristie Arians.
