Nicholas Anthony Donofrio, aka Nick Donofrio (age 20, 2003 – August 26, 2023), was a University of South Carolina student who became the prey of America’s liberal gun laws. Donofrio was fatally shot in a Columbia neighborhood after mistakenly entering the wrong address.

Reports indicate that Donofrio was discovered deceased on the front porch of an off-campus residence on South Holly Street. He succumbed to a gunshot wound to his upper body, which occurred shortly after 2 a.m. on a Saturday.

Nick Donofrio Was Shot in Porch

On August 26, 2023, Columbia, South Carolina, police officers responded to a call in the 500 block of South Holly Street at approximately 2 a.m. The initial report indicated a possible home burglary, but as the officers were en route, the situation escalated with reports of gunshots being fired.

Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered Nicholas Donofrio on the front porch of a home, suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body.

Based on their investigation, it appears that Donofrio, a resident of South Holly Street, had mistakenly entered the wrong home, which tragically resulted in him being shot and fatally wounded.

Regrettably, Nick succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene. The identity of the homeowner who mistook Donofrio for an intruder has not been disclosed.

This incident has sparked significant outrage, as many believe that the shooter could have secured the home and awaited the arrival of the police instead of resorting to lethal force.

In 2003, Nicholas Donofrio (age 20) was born to his father, Louis Donofrio, and mother, Dina Barra Donofrio, in Connecticut, United States. He grew up in Madison alongside his elder brother, Louie Donofrio, and attended Daniel Hand High School.

Nicholas was known for his athletic prowess, particularly excelling in basketball. He proudly represented his high school’s basketball team.

Following high school graduation, he initially pursued his passion for basketball by playing during his first year at the University of New England before transferring to the University of South Carolina.

At the University of South Carolina, Donofrio studied Kinesiology and Exercise Science. Tragically, he was in his third year of college when he lost his life due to a shooting incident in a neighborhood in Columbia.
