Former Autosport editor and author Andy Hallbery passed away at the age of 56.
Hallbery developed a passion for racing as a result of growing up watching speedway at Wembley and attending grand prix events all around Europe. While attending the London College of Printing, he became interested in the Brabham squad and developed a fanzine. When he arrived for an interview for the first position on the Autosport career ladder as an editing assistant in 1986, this was his calling card.
Hallbery’s transition to Racer magazine in California in 2001 marked the largest shift in his professional career to date. As he followed the Indycar route, it not only brought him to tracks he had only imagined, but it also brought him back together with Franchitti and de Ferran. “Andy was there the following morning.”
