Samuel Anthony Alito Jr. is an American lawyer and judge who currently serves as an associate justice on the United States Supreme Court.
President George W. Bush nominated him on October 31, 2005, and he has been in office since January 31, 2006.
He is the second Italian-American justice to serve on the United States Supreme Court, following Antonin Scalia, and the eleventh Roman Catholic.
