Susan Margaret Collins born on December 7, 1952 (age 69 years) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Maine.
She is a graduate of St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York who has held her seat since 1997 and happens to be the longest-serving member of Congress born in Caribou, Maine.
Susan Collins is a member of the Republican Party and has been on the general-election ballot six times in Maine: once for governor, five times for U.S. senator and she has been defeated just once, in her 1994 campaign for governor.
